SYMPTOMS
When you start your computer after you upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP, you may receive one or both of the following error messages:
Invalid Boot.ini
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
Windows\System32\Hal.dll
This issue may occur if the Boot.ini file is missing, damaged, or contains incorrect entries.

Fragmentation makes your hard disk do extra work that can slow down your computer. Disk Defragmenter rearranges fragmented data so your hard disk can work more efficiently.
To run disk defragmenter manually follow this steps:
1. Open Disk Defragmenter by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, clicking System Tools, and then clicking Disk Defragmenter.Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
2. Click Defragment Now.
Disk Defragmenter might take from several minutes to a few hours to finish, depending on the size and degree of fragmentation of your hard disk. You can still use your computer during the defragmentation process.
Note : Advanced users can use the command line tool Defrag.exe to generate detailed reports and perform other advanced tasks.

1. Open Backup and Restore Center by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Backup and Restore Center.
2. Click Back up files, and then follow the steps in the wizard. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Notes
* Do not back up files to the same hard disk that Windows is installed on. For example, do not back up files to a recovery partition.
* Always store media used for backups (external hard disks, DVDs, or CDs) in a secure place to prevent unauthorized people from having access to your files; a fireproof location separate from your computer is recommended. You might also consider encrypting the data on your backup.

Microsoft recently released security bulletin advanced notification for June 2008, Microsoft will release seven security bulletins this coming June 10. Three bulletins rated as Critical, three bulletins rated as Important and one bulletin rated as Moderate. Three Critical patches are for Bluetooth, IE and DirectX, Three Important patches for WINS, Active Directory and PGM while the Moderate patch is for Kill Bit.
