Cuil “The Google Killer”
Posted by raxsoSep 2
Don Reisinger wrote from his site that cuil the ill-fated “Google Killer,” has unleashed its Twiceler indexing bot on websites across the globe and in the process, has brought many sites down.
Cuil’s overzealous method for indexing brought down websites because of the Twiceler robot and one user said it “leeched enormous amounts of bandwidth - nearly 2GB this month until it was blocked. It visited nearly 70,000 times!”
For website admin and site owner’s you might need to check your Apache or IIS logs to investigate this issue.

There first impression of Cuil wasn’t that cuil and it really disappointed me and now this! I wonder if they can ever compete with Google.

Do you think it can kill Google?
I have not seen my own personal blog listed on their first pages by just simply using “the lady programmer”. I do not even see the accompanying Wikipedia article too.
The search engine has a nice interface, but it seems to me that the it cannot really show such similar result.

The latest buzz is that CUIL’s killing not only Google but Websites as well. CUIL’s bot is so aggressive it is ignoring robots.txt when crawling rendering some websites to slow down and eventually die.

Well cuil needs to re-engineered their bots in order to compete with google, cuil has a nice future if they can work on with their bots.

Does, anybody know what the robots URL is, so it can be blocked in the .htaccess file?
