By default, 2Wire Gateway firewall is enabled. It is recommended that you only use one firewall to prevent potential issues with connection speed. If you are running other firewalls such as Windows XP or 3^rd party software, to many firewalls will also affect your connection speed.

Please note: These instructions apply only to PPPoE users for all 2Wire Gateway models.

To disable the 2Wire Gateway firewall:

1. Access your router’s GUI at http://homeportal/setup
2. Under the Firewall heading on the right side of the screen, the firewall status will be displayed.
3. Click either of the Firewall icons (lock image) or the View Firewall Status link next to the status as stated in Step 2 above.
4. Click the Firewall Settings link in the navigation bar.
5. Choose the Allow all applications (DMZplus mode) option.
6. Click the Done button.

To enable the 2Wire Gateway firewall:

1. Access your router’s GUI at http://homeportal/setup
2. Under the Firewall heading on the right side of the screen, the firewall status will be displayed.
3. Click either of the Firewall icons (lock image) or the View Firewall Status link next to the status as stated in Step 2 above.
4. Click the Firewall Settings link in the navigation bar.
5. Choose the Allow individual application(s)
6. Click the Done button.
